Obstruction Detection for Driverless Transport Systems (DTS) with Long-Range Laser Distance Sensors

Driverless transport systems (DTS) must be able to orientate and navigate safely in large logistics centers in order to avoid collisions. In order to detect obstacles in good time, several long-range laser distance sensors with wintec are installed in the DTS, which perform distance measurements in defined directions. Distances to surrounding objects are thus reliably and precisely determined – even with black, glossy or transparent objects at large angles. The determined values are transmitted to the control system via analog output or switching signal.

Long-Range Laser Distance Sensors

Long-range laser distance sensors work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The emitted light can be switched off for these sensors, which eliminates temperature drift.
