Micrometer-Precise Presetting of Blanks with Laser Distance Sensor Triangulation

In metalworking centers, blanks, made from copper, for example, must be measured for further processing. Positioning, also known as presetting, must be performed on the milled, reflective copper parts with micrometer precision. A laser distance sensor triangulation is installed above the part pick-up for this purpose, which measures the exact distance between the upper edge of the object and the sensor. To avoid linearity errors, a reference plate is installed within the sensor measuring range as a zero point calibration at a predefined height.

Laser Distance Sensors Triangulation

The contactless laser triangulation sensors work according to the angle measurement principle, which enables reliable and highly precise measurement in the close range up to 1,000 mm. The triangulation sensors deliver stable measured values regardless of colors, shapes, rough and textured surfaces.
