Leading Edge Detection in Cutting Machines by Laser Distance Sensors Triangulation
Portions of sausage and cheese cut by high-performance slicing machines must be precisely positioned and aligned on the conveyor belt so that they can be placed into the packages with exact accuracy. To precisely control the conveyor belt, laser distance sensors triangulation detect the leading edges of the portions at three points: after cutting, before layering and after joining. Thanks to the fine laser beam and the jump height detection, the sensors reliably detect the thin slices on the slightly oscillating conveyor belts. This enables exact timing.

The contactless laser triangulation sensors work according to the angle measurement principle, which enables reliable and highly precise measurement in the close range up to 1,000 mm. The triangulation sensors deliver stable measured values regardless of colors, shapes, rough and textured surfaces.
