Firebed Monitoring in Pellet Kilns via Time-of-Flight Laser Distance Sensors

In pellet kilns, the firebed height must be continuously monitored in order to control the heating efficiency optimally. This is where time-of-flight laser distance sensors with blue lasers are used. Thanks to the short-wave blue laser light, the large light spot and a special filter that filters out disturbing radiation, they reliably measure the distance to the firebed and deliver stable measurement results even on the uneven surface of the glowing pellets. This allows the combustion process to be optimally controlled and the heating efficiency to be continuously monitored and improved.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
