2K photoelectronic sensors offer the ideal solution for complex industrial applications. Thanks to their robust stainless steel 316L housing, they can withstand intensive high-pressure cleaning up to 100 bar at temperatures up to 80 °C, aggressive cleaning agents, coolants and lubricants, as well as mechanical influences and corrosion. They are able to measure distances, detect objects and communicate intelligently via IO-Link. The miniature design, which can be easily integrated into any system, is available to users in six functional principles and three light sources.

Detection of Biscuit Cookies

In the production of cookies, the objects must be transported and gripped between different processes on multi-lane conveyor belts. After baking in the oven, they are individually conveyed on rails and prepared for the packaging process. They must be counted before gripping and moving. For this purpose, a reflex sensor with background suppression is installed above each lane on the conveyor line, which detects the cookies from the front edge. Thanks to the stainless steel 316L housing, the sensors are ideal for hygienically demanding cleaning at high temperatures.

Position Sensing of Material on Lathes

In CNC lathes, raw material is fixed in clamping devices. Before the machining process begins, it must therefore be ensured that the workpiece is in the correct position. If it is clamped incorrectly, has slipped or is not present, the machining process does not start. For this purpose, a reflex sensor with background suppression is installed on the side of the machining center, which detects the workpiece precisely with laser light. The robust stainless steel 316L housing (IP69K degree of protection) is resistant to aggressive coolants, lubricants or metal shavings.

Distance Calculation for Cheeses

During the production and processing of cheeses, the rind is removed in a robot-assisted process and the cheese is freshly coated. In order to determine the exact distance between the mounted tool and the object, a ToF laser distance sensor in a stainless steel 316L housing is installed directly on the robot. The sensor is ideal for this purpose thanks to its low weight. For washdown areas, it is also essential to have a cleaning-agent resistant, leak-proof housing and IP69K degree of protection. Thanks to wintec, glossy and wet objects can also be reliably detected at an angle.

Leading Edge Detection of Soft Cheese

In the production of soft cheese, the wedge-shaped pieces of cheese are transported to the packing station on conveyor belts. In order to trigger the packaging process on a special bagging machine, to monitor the distance between the objects and to prevent jamming, the front edges of the cheese pieces must be reliably detected. For this purpose, a through-beam sensor is installed on the side in the stainless steel 316L housing with opposite receiver. Thanks to the cleaning agent-resistant and robust stainless steel housing with IP69K degree of protection, even high-pressure cleaning at up to 80 °C is possible.
