A particular highlight at the trade fair is the new P1PY21 series, which is the world’s first time-of-flight sensor series with blue laser light. Thanks to the shorter wavelength, blue laser light does not penetrate as deeply into object surfaces, enabling stable detection even with dark, glossy, organic or (semi-)transparent materials. Equipped with proven Dynamic Sensitivity technology, wintec with blue light combines precision and innovation, making it the ideal solution for complex applications in automation technology. Create AI Models Easily with the AI Lab wenglor presents the new AI Lab in the machine vision field. The high-performance platform enables efficient data management and training of AI models in the cloud. The uniVision 3 software enables image capture and the powerful execution of AI models on machine vision products. The weHub software ensures seamless communication between the AI Lab cloud platform and the uniVision 3 image processing software. wenglor Welcomes 1000th Employee
In spring 2022, wenglor, the sensor technology expert from Tettnang, officially reached the impressive milestone of 1,000 employees within the company group. Brigitte Kassner started her new job at the site in Tettnang as a sensor technology development engineer in the development department, signing her employment contract as the thousandth member of the innovative family. The 28-year-old from Ravensburg can therefore look forward to an exciting and varied job, as well as to working with 999 other colleagues in over 26 countries worldwide. A historic milestone in the company’s almost 40-year history. “Healthy company growth can only be achieved by increasing the turnover, as well as the number of employees and the space required for this,” says wenglor Managing Director Fabian Baur. “Our turnover grew by 25 percent last year, our new development and production centers in Tettnang and Munich will be completed this year and we have now also reached the impressive milestone of 1,000 employees. The wenglor group is therefore growing very healthily and stands for sustainable growth as a strong employer in the region.” To mark the occasion, Brigitte Kassner was personally welcomed by wenglor’s management team, as well as Human Resources Manager Sarah Bauer and accepted into the innovative family as the newest member. “We are delighted that you have joined us as part of our wenglor family and wish you all the best for our future together.” At Home on Lake Constance, at Ease Around the World The 1,000 employees are spread across more than 26 countries worldwide. The largest number of wenglor’s employees, around 400 in total, are located at the company headquarters in Tettnang. This site is home to the administration, as well as parts of production and development. A further 340 wenglor colleagues work in production, development and sales in Sibiu (Hermannstadt, Romania). Around 60 employees work in the subsidiaries wenglorMEL and the recently acquired company TPL Vision, which develop and produce 3D image processing technologies, software and illumination. The remaining employees are distributed across 25 sales subsidiaries throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America. Growth in Employee Numbers Requires Strong HR Skills It is far from easy to find skilled workers in the current situation. wenglor is looking for additional support in almost all areas of the company to be able to meet the current demand for industrial sensor and image processing solutions. “It has become increasingly difficult to find employees in recent years. As HR experts, it is therefore all the more important for us to present wenglor as a strong employer brand and to repeatedly highlight the attractiveness of the location,” explains wenglor Human Resources Manager Sarah Bauer. Brigitte Kassner’s appointment as the thousandth employee was therefore a real success story: “We are proud that Brigitte has chosen us. In particular, the fact that she is gaining a foothold as a woman in a technical profession is no coincidence, but reflects our spirit of the times,” says Bauer. “It is clear that a lot has happened at wenglor in the almost 40 years since the company was founded.”

The wenglor LRL ring light is equipped with LEDs arranged in a circle that ensure uniform illumination intensity across the entire test object. With two sizes and three light colors, it is suitable for a wide range of applications and camera requirements in industrial image processing. The optional angle changers enable flexible adjustment of the illumination angle, allowing for better field of view homogeneity. In addition, the new ZMRG dark field attachment has been added to the illumination portfolio. Available in two different sizes with an inner diameter of 37 and 76 mm respectively, the LRL ring light creates optimal lighting situations in confined spaces and compact applications, as well as for larger lenses and more demanding applications. Compatibility with angle changers allows for a bright, even and diffuse lighting solution with different beam angles without shading. The convergence light attachment minimizes ring effects. Six M4 mounting threads, extensive mounting accessories and the connection via a 5-pin M12 plug ensure flexible mounting options. The LRL ring light offers three different types of light with white, red and infrared light and is continuously dimmable. It can be used flexibly in continuous or strobe mode OverDrive. The robust, anodized aluminum housing with IP67 degree of protection guarantees efficient heat dissipation, ensuring constant and reliable light output even in continuous mode. The small LRL ring light can also be attached directly to C mount lenses using an adapter. New Dark Field Illumination for Precise Surface Inspection The LMFX dark field illumination combines the LMRX ring light with the new ZMRG dark field attachment to ensure precise surface inspection at a 60 degree angle of incidence. This configuration is particularly suitable for inspecting glossy and dark surfaces, where edges, bumps and scratches are clearly highlighted. Tettnang / Berlin – With the acquisition of software developer deevio, the wenglor sensoric group, based in Tettnang, Germany, is gaining greater know-how in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science while also creating new opportunities for future innovations in the field of machine vision. Based in Berlin, deevio GmbH was spun off from the Viessmann Group’s incubator wattx. deevio will remain in existence after it is integrated into the wenglor sensoric group, with Christian Vollrath, Head of Computer Vision, taking over management in the future. “We are delighted that, with the acquisition of deevio GmbH, we have this opportunity to further strengthen our expertise and capability in the field of machine vision,” stresses wenglor Managing Director Rafael Baur. “In recent years, deevio has developed a great deal of know-how in using AI and data science for image processing applications within the automation industry, which is a considerable advantage for us.” The Berlin-based software developer specializes in the automation of visual inspection processes in production. Combining AI, software and hardware, the image processing systems developed by deevio are used as solutions for complex production applications. Artificial intelligence can be used, among other things, to automate manual quality controls that cannot be solved with rule-based image processing. These solutions are already being used in many different areas of production within the automotive, packaging, and pharmaceutical industries. Just a few weeks ago, wenglor caused quite a sensation in the industrial image processing sector with the release of its B60 series. The B60 smart camera is a comprehensive solution for challenging image processing applications. “Our B60-series smart cameras with wenglor uniVision 3, wenglor’s integrated high-performance software ecosystem, have expanded the machine vision horizon in our industry,” says Christian Vollrath, who is Head of Computer Vision at wenglor and now taking over management of deevio as General Manager. “The course is clearly set for further innovations in AI and image processing. This is also why I see such great potential in this move, because, with deevio, we are now able to expand on our commitment to sustainable solutions.” During the acquisition process, deevio received support from LSJ.Advisory. CEO and co-founder Damian Heimel will offer deevio support for another six months, at which point wenglor will assume responsibility for its strategic management. Co-founder Dr. Tassilo Glander will continue to manage deevio’s tech team. “wenglor is the ideal partner for us, because it enables us to scale our AI technology and offer it to a much larger group of customers. We are very happy to be part of this innovative family going forward,” says Damian Heimel. In addition to the co-founders, deevio’s shareholders also included Italian holding company Image S Holding S.r.l. For the time being, the only minority shareholder besides wenglor is SFO, a venture capital firm from southern Germany. wenglor and deevio’s development teams will now work on integrating deevio technology into wenglor’s uniVision software environment, thus making it available to wenglor’s customers.

wenglor Presents P1XD Fiber-Optic Amplifier for Small Space Applications
Fiber-optic amplifiers from the wenglor sensoric group P1XD series impress with their compact format and outstanding flexibility, which enables easy integration into various applications. While adjustment can be carried out simply on the device, initial startup is quick and tool-free. Thanks to the modular principle, plastic and glass fiber-optics as well as various sensor heads can be combined easily, guaranteeing high adaptability. User-friendly operation using NFC, the weCon app or the integrated display on the sensor enables quick and intuitive configuration. Different functional principles are available, such as scanning, through-beam sensors and retro-reflex. The dynamic readjustment of the P1XD series fiber-optic amplifiers ensures that the set switching distance is maintained. Contamination does not affect the performance of the optical fiber sensors. Thanks to the integrated jump detection, there is no need to learn about the environment, as signal jumps are reliably detected. The display supports intuitive operation. Low bending radius due to high-flex fiber optic cables, flexible mounting options and a comprehensive portfolio of sensor heads make fiber-optic sensors ideal for tight spaces.  Pink Light Mode and Intelligent Multi-Unit Operation with the P1XD2 Series Some variants of the P1XD series offer a significant increase in light output with the innovative pink light mode. The parallel connection of the red and blue emitter diodes increases the range. Pink light mode can be activated by pressing a button, IO-Link or NFC. The P1XD2 series models also offer the option of operating a fiber-optic amplifier as a stand-alone unit or in a multi-unit network as a master or sub-unit. During the boot process, the light guide sensor automatically detects which operation it is in and organizes the individual sensor units independently. This significantly reduces installation effort and minimizes error susceptibility. If requirements change, the fiber-optic sensors can be unplugged and used as stand-alone devices. Tettnang/Nuremberg – The wenglor sensoric group will be presenting a whole range of new products in the fields of sensor technology and machine vision at the international trade fair for industrial automation SPS. The product portfolio expansion with Industrial RFID, the inductive ring sensors with separable housing and new 2D/3D profile sensors will be available to experience in Nuremberg, among other things. In addition to the wealth of innovations, the open, redesigned trade fair concept also makes a strong impression. One particular highlight is the integration of two robot cells, which provide exciting insights into the capabilities of the MLZL 2D/3D profile sensor and the B60 smart camera.  With Industrial RFID, wenglor is expanding its portfolio to include smart identification solutions with RFID. The new RFID readers enable a quick and reliable identification solution in the near field. In the sensors product area, the new inductive ring sensors with separable housing, which enable quick and easy replacement of the sensors without mechanical work and detect small metal parts in feed hoses precisely, are also impressive.
