Distance Measurement of Chipboards with Long-Range Laser Distance Sensors with wintec

In the wood industry, chipboards are stored and removed for processing in so-called intermediary stack storage systems. This process is performed by fully automatic vacuum grippers. A long-range laser distance sensor with wintec installed on the gripper determines the distance of the gripper to the panel and, thanks to two independent switching points, enables both the slower approach and the start of the gripping process. Interference such as ambient light or dust as well as reflective or fluorescent objects have no influence on the switching behavior of the sensor.

Long-range laser distance sensors work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The emitted light can be switched off for these sensors, which eliminates temperature drift.
