Density
The density, also called barcode density, describes a barcode’s information density. As a rule, this characteristic is expressed in cpi (characters per inch). Barcode density increases as the number of barcode symbols per unit of length rises. Differentiation is made amongst the following densities as a function of module width:
Ultra high density code: module widths of less than 0.19 mm
High density code: module widths ranging from 0.19 to 0.24 mm
Medium density code: module widths ranging from 0.24 to 0.30 mm
Low density code: module widths ranging from 0.30 to 0.50 mm
