Where hygiene, humidity and cleaning determine everyday production, industrial image processing needs a robust illumination solution. The LB9 IP69K bar light combines a fully sealed stainless steel 316L housing with high light output and reliable sealing for use in food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications.

The LB9 IP69K bar light is suitable for applications where regular high-pressure cleaning, steam and aggressive cleaning agents are part of the production routine. The fully sealed housing enables use in food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications and supports reliable image processing processes even in harsh ambient conditions.

Food

Bar lights with an IP69K degree of protection are suitable for sorting, quality and packaging processes in food production. Corrosion-resistant and chemical-resistant materials support reliable use even with aggressive cleaning and disinfecting agents. The closed design also allows position control in wet production environments.

Pharmaceuticals

The LB9 enables sterile inspection, labeling and quality control in validated pharmaceutical processes. Fully sealed, condensation-resistant housings are suitable for the inspection of ampoules, vials and other primary packaging. Reproducible lighting conditions and constant light output also ensure reliable test results regardless of environmental influences.

Beverages

In wet filling and packaging lines, the LB9 bar light provides reliable illumination for code and barcode reading, label control, fill-level control and cap inspection. Waterproof, pressure-resistant housings and durable optics ensure constant test conditions in contact with liquids, cleaning agents, steam, condensation and fluctuating temperatures.

The Right Light Color for Every Application

The LB9 IP69K bar light is available in white light, red light, infrared light, blue light and UV light. Depending on the application, camera type and material properties of the test object, the different wavelengths offer specific advantages for industrial image processing. White light (5,700 K) is suitable as a versatile lighting solution, red light (630 nm) creates high contrasts in monochrome cameras and blue light (470 nm) supports the precise detection of fine structures, sharp edges and small details. Infrared light (850 nm) makes material-dependent properties visible, while UV light (405 nm) is used to detect fluorescent materials.

Illumination Methods with the LB9 Bar Light

Depending on the application, the selected illumination method determines which features are visible in the camera image. The LB9 IP69K bar light is suitable for different illumination technologies to highlight surfaces, edges or structures. Further application-specific illumination methods can be found in the respective product descriptions.

Brightfield
By using bar light as incident light, direct illumination causes reflections on the surface of the object being examined.

Flat angle
Using bar lights at a flat angle enables a contrast to be created at the edges, which allows slight illumination of the surface.

Darkfield
Positioned as a flat aligned illumination, the bar light highlights edges strongly while hardly any light falls on the surface.

Hygiene Applications with the LB9 Bar Light

Illumination of Cookies

Biscuits are individually transported on conveyor belts before the packaging process. In order to grip them correctly and place them in the packages, their position and orientation on the conveyor belt must be determined. A line camera and bar light are installed above for this purpose. The illumination in the stainless steel 316L housing creates targeted light above the product and thus enables a high-contrast camera image. Thanks to its high protection class, the robust bar light (IP69K) is resistant to conventional high-pressure cleaning and strong cleaning agents in washdown areas.

Adhesive Check on Paper Bags

Paper bags for flour, sugar and other dry foods must be reliably glued to prevent leakage and contamination. Missing or unevenly applied adhesive can hardly be distinguished from paper under visible light. A fluorescent additive is therefore added to the adhesive, which is activated by the IP69K bar light with UV light so that the adhesive lights up and the camera detects it with high contrast. This allows the position, continuity and uniformity of the adhesive application to be checked even at high speed.
