Ready for Use Immediately without Readjustment:
Retro-Reflex Sensors with Teach-Free Technology

The retro-reflex sensor for transparent objects with teach-free technology sets a new milestone. The special advantage: It works immediately after installation and does not need to be taught in manually during initial start-up. The sensitivity adjusts automatically during operation. This eliminates the need for time-consuming and error-prone manual teaching of individual sensors.

The Functional Principle of Teach-Free Technology

Thanks to the teach-free technology, the retro-reflex sensors for transparent objects P1KK010 and P1KK011offer the advantage of dynamic adaptation to different path widths. This technology is particularly advantageous when transporting small and large objects on conveyors with different distances between the emitter and reflector. The sensor also reliably detects transparent objects between the sensor and the reflector. The retro-reflex sensors automatically adjust the switching threshold to the new reflector distance if the path width changes gradually and the light beam is not interrupted.

Comparison of Teach Modes

Teach-Free

The switching threshold is determined automatically, without pressing the button manually.

Teach-In

The teach-in key is pressed manually to teach in the switching point.

Potentiometer

The sensitivity is adjusted using a potentiometer.

Reliable Object Detection and Application Options

Food and Beverages Industry

  • Detection of transparent glass or PET bottles

  • Reliable detection of small and large containers

Automotive Industry

  • Detection of high gloss and chrome-plated battery cells

  • Detection of transparent trays and packages

Packaging Industry

  • Presence check of transparent packaging

  • Use in conveyor lines with varying lane widths

Detection of Transparent Objects

Translucent or small objects typically do not cause complete interruption of the sensor light beam. For reliable object detection, retro-reflex sensors for transparent objects are therefore dependent on a constantly adjusted sensitivity setting, especially in the event of changing ambient conditions.

Versatile Fields of Application with Teach-Free Sensors

Presence Check of Glass Bottles

During the processing and filling of glass bottles in the beverages industry, the presence of transparent bottles must be reliably detected on the sorting lines in order to ensure a continuous material flow.

Presence Check of Syringes

In the manufacturing of syringes in the pharmaceutical industry, the presence of the syringe bodies must be reliably detected in feed and sorting lines in order to ensure a continuous flow of material.

Detection of Battery Cells

During battery unit assembly in the automotive industry, individual cells are grouped into modules. Previously tested cells that are unsuitable are separated and collected in so-called stations.
