Four-Sensor Linear Muting

How does four-sensor linear muting work?

Four-sensor linear muting is a method for temporarily bridging a protective device, usually for light barriers in automated systems. Four sensors are arranged linearly along the transport direction to enable targeted switching on and off (muting) of the protective device during material transport – two muting sensors are installed inside and two muting sensors are installed outside the danger zone. The system detects if an object (e.g. workpiece) and not a person is crossing the protected area and only disables the light barrier for the duration of the safe passage. After passage, the protection is automatically reactivated. This process increases safety while ensuring an uninterrupted material flow.
