Fixed Character Length

Fixed character lenght means that there is a definition specifying how many characters from the numeric code or alphanumeric code correspond to the symbols of each respective barcode. Some barcodes have a fixed character length, others have a variable character length. Examples: UPC A, UPC E: fixed length of 6 or 12 characters EAN8 fixed length of 8 characters EAN13 fixed length of 13 characters Code 2/5 variable, but always an even number of characters Codabar variable character length Code39 variable character length Code128 variable character length
