Distance Measurement on Telescopic Conveyors with Long-Range Laser Distance Sensors

Telescopic conveyors are used in large logistics centers to efficiently load and unload trucks. Depending on the filling of the loading platform, these mobile belt conveyors can be retracted or extended so that parcels can be transported quickly. In order to be able to monitor the distance of the moving parts to the base, a long-range laser distance sensor is attached below the conveyor belt. This measures the distance to the loading/unloading station in the same way. In the event of disruptive factors such as fog, snow or rain, the sensor reliably switches to up to eight meters, even outdoors, thanks to DS technology.

Long-range laser distance sensors work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The emitted light can be switched off for these sensors, which eliminates temperature drift.
