Pipe Position Check for Passenger Car Air Conditioning Systems with 2D/3D Profile Sensor
In passenger cars, supply and exhaust air pipes are laid to guarantee the air circulation of the connected air conditioning system. The position of these metal pipes must be accurately measured before installation in the vehicle to make optimum use of the confined space. A 2D/3D profile sensor is installed on a robot arm for this purpose. The sensor creates height profiles at several measuring points with micrometer accuracy. The data is then evaluated using uniVision image processing software to determine the exact pipe routing in relation to surrounding components.
