Depalletization of Boxes on Pallets Using 3D Sensors

In large logistics centers, pallets loaded with boxes must be unloaded – i.e. depalletized – in order to be transported on subsequent conveyor belts. This task is performed by fully automated robot systems. The exact position of the objects on the pallets must be recorded so that they can securely grip objects of different sizes. A 3D sensor is attached above the pallet for this purpose, which performs a precise position measurement using structured light. This enables a shifted load to be detected regardless of the size, shape or packing pattern of the load.

MLBS 3D Sensors

3D sensors in the MLBS performance class are designed for detecting large measuring volumes thanks to their symmetrical design and powerful light engine. Short exposure times make the 3D scanners ideal for dynamic applications
