Distance Measurement on Wooden Pallets for Autonomous Forklifts with Laser Distance Sensor Time of Flight

In large distribution centers, autonomous forklifts transport all kinds of goods on pallets, from incoming goods and warehousing to shipping. This material flow can only work safely and reliably if the pallets are picked up correctly by the stacker. To ensure this, the distance from the stacker to the pallet base must be measured with a laser distance sensor Time of Flight. Thanks to a large light spot, the sensor mounted between the forks reliably detects the pallets – even with uneven surfaces, holes, dirt or tears.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
