Transmission Mode

With regard to the transmission mode, a distinction is made between half duplex and full duplex. Half duplex: Two partners communicate via a line that is used for both directions. It can therefore transmit in only one direction at a time. Otherwise, there will be a collision. Full duplex: Two partners communicate with each other via two lines. Partner A’s transmission line is also Partner B’s receiving line. Therefore, both sides can transmit and receive simultaneously.
