Protection Class

Protection class is a classification for electrical equipment in accordance with EN 61140; there are four protection classes. The protection class provides information regarding included safety measures for the prevention of electric shock.
Protection Class
Protection class 0 Operating equipment without any special protection against electric shock. Protection class I Operating equipment with basic insulation and protective conductor terminal (protective grounding). Protection class II Operating equipment with reinforced or double insulation (protective insulation). There is no protective conductor terminal in this case. Protection class III Operating equipment with extra-low voltage. Operating equipment for connection to extra-low voltage. Symbols for protection classes:
