Muting Sequence

What does muting sequence mean?

The muting sequence refers to the defined sequence of signals with which a safety system – usually a light barrier – is deactivated in a targeted and time-limited manner during a defined process (e.g. material transport). The sequence determines in which order and within which time window muting sensors must be triggered for the system to allow the protection function to be switched off. It is used to distinguish between permitted objects and persons and ensures that the protection is automatically reactivated after passage.
