Checking the Correct Number of Tablets in a Tablet Filling System by Means of Vision Sensors

In order to ensure that the correct amount of tablets per package is available before the packaging process of tablets in the pharmaceutical industry, the tablets must be counted. There are 10 recesses for the tablets per carrying unit on the conveyor line. Two vision sensors are installed above each carrying unit, which detect the presence of the objects on the tray. If the correct number is confirmed, the tablets fall to the final packaging via a funnel. If one or more tablets are missing, the carrying unit is transported to the return flap.

B50 Vision Sensors

Vision sensors from the B50 series include numerous image processing functions for the automation industry. From simple presence checks to color and shape recognition, the counting and sorting of objects, these sensors are used for quality assurance – even in real time via Industrial Ethernet.
