Plastic Fiber-Optic Cables

Plastic fiber-optic cables are used where space or ambient conditions restrict the use of conventional optical devices. They enable even the smallest objects to be detected in confined and hard-to-reach spaces. Plastic fiber-optic cables have the advantage that they are very flexible due to the material used, meaning that they can also be used with extremely small bending radii.

Application-Specific Product Selection

High-flex fiber optics are particularly suitable for permanent use in moving machine areas. They can withstand continuous bending stress and ensure stable light transmission even with tight bending radii. This makes them ideal for flexible assembly on robot axes, grippers or other dynamic system parts.

Thanks to their particularly compact design, miniature fiber-optic cables are ideal for applications with limited space, as they can easily be inserted into narrow holes or narrow gaps. They enable precise detection of small objects and fine differences, even in hard-to-reach or concealed areas. 

The reflection type with coaxial fiber arrangement enables highly precise object detection regardless of the orientation of the fiber-optic cable. Unlike standard versions with emitting and receiving fibers at the side, these fiber-optic cables have a central core (emitter) that is completely surrounded by fine receiving fibers. This coaxial structure ensures that the reflected light is captured evenly from almost all directions.

Fiber-optic cables with 90° outlet are suitable for applications where side object detection is required. Thanks to their compact format, they enable reliable detection even in hard-to-reach places such as slits, grooves or pockets. The special cable routing allows direct integration into tool holders or machine walls without tight bending radii. This significantly reduces the risk of cable damage and failures.

Flat fiber-optic heads can be mounted directly on the system to save space. The sensor head also serves as a holder and can be easily installed with the supplied mounting set without additional mounting parts.
