What is the washdown area in the food industry?

The washdown area corresponds to the splash area in accordance with DIN EN 1672-2. It includes all surfaces that come into direct contact with foodstuffs and from which the foodstuff does not return to the product stream. Figure legend: 1 = Food area 2 = Splash area 3 = Non-food area
