DataMatrix Code

A DataMatrix code is a special type of 2D code consisting of a group of dots and lines. This code can only be read by special 2D code scanners (2D code scanner). The advantage of the matrix code is its high information density, which is roughly 15 times greater than that of a simple barcode. Example: The DataMatrix Code can be read in any direction (omnidirectional) and allows for the representation of a wide variety of different character and font sets. The DataMatrix Code utilises horizontal and vertical boundary lines (orientation lines). Depending upon size, up to 2334 ASCII code characters (7 bit), 1558 extended ASCII code characters (8 bit) or 3116 characters can be encoded. In the most reliable version (DataMatrix code ECC 200), all characters can be restored, even if up to 25 % of the barcode has been destroyed.
