P1PF Color Sensor – Process-Stable Color Evaluation and Intuitive Color Control
The P1PF color sensor combines two views of color: It enables the technical evaluation in RGB and offers the visually comprehensible setting using HSL. This means that the color sensor can be used both for precise processes and intuitively in everyday operation. Up to eight colors can be differentiated and color tolerances can be conveniently adjusted via IO-Link. With a high switching frequency of 8 kHz, the P1PF sensor reacts reliably to rapid color changes – even in challenging applications at high speeds.
Colors are recognized realistically across the entire visible spectrum – regardless of material, surface and ambient light.
Accurate color change detection even in high-speed moving object applications such as packaging, printing and sorting processes.
Fast and easy initial startup – no software required. Perfect for stand-alone applications or service operations directly on the machine.
With just one P1PF sensor, up to eight colors can be distinguished – efficiently, space-savingly and cost-savingly.
Precise and Intuitive – Color Detection According to Your Needs h2>
The P1PF color sensor offers the choice between a technically precise evaluation in the RGB color space and a visually intuitive setting in the HSL color space. This makes it suitable both for automated processes for precise measured value recording and for daily operation.
At a Glance:
- RGB: For targeted color channel evaluation and precise control of process limits.
- HSL: To set colors according to your own perception.
9-LED Bar Graph for Real-Time Color Verification h2>
The P1PF sensor has a 9-LED bar graph that displays the current detected color and the learned references of all outputs in real time.
- The immediate visual feedback facilitates adjustment, teach-in and troubleshooting – without any additional tools.
- Direct color matching can be used to adjust the distance to the object or the inclination angle of the sensor to optimize results.
- Choose between two display variants: View either the reference values of the two physical switching outputs or all eight outputs.
P1PF Color Sensor in Practice
Installation Check of Fuses h3>
In the automotive industry, fuses of different colors are installed in passenger car fuse boxes depending on the amperage. A color sensor checks whether all components have been correctly positioned and assigned to the correct type. The light reflected by the object is evaluated and the received data is compared with the specified color positions in the layout of the fuse box. Missing fuses or incorrect colors are immediately detected, which ensures error-free assembly.
Color-Coded Packaging Sorting h3>
Packaged toys are automatically sorted by color. The packaging is differentiated by a printed color code that corresponds to the color of the toy it contains. The printed color block is detected by a color sensor, which then controls the forwarding of the packaging via pneumatic switches to the corresponding packaging station. Thanks to high switching frequency and precise RGB detection, the sensor can distinguish colors even at high speeds and direct each product to the corresponding station.
Detection of Caps h3>
After the filling and closing process of small bottles in the pharmaceutical industry, it must be ensured that each bottle is capped with the matching color. A color sensor mounted above the conveyor tracks the color values of each lid and checks that they match the stored reference colors. Thanks to its high switching frequency, the sensor operates precisely and reliably even at high flow rates. This ensures that each product is properly sealed and possible missorts are detected early.
