Install WebLink Drivers (C5KC)
If you have loaded the DDU (Device
Discovery Utility) onto your computer, the necessary USB
drivers will already have been installed. You can plug the reader
into the PC and the drivers will load automatically.
If you have not loaded the DDU onto your computer, the reader will be
factory-configured to USB Drive Mode.
When you first plug in the reader, it will act as a USB key. The drivers
can be installed directly from the reader using the following steps.
- Plug the reader into a USB port and wait for the AutoPlay
dialog to appear.
- Click the Open folder to view files and double-click the Double-Click Here.bat batch file.
- At the command prompt, select option
1 and then type Enter.
The VCOM and USBLAN
drivers will be installed.

- At the command prompt, select option
2 to install the WebLink
and FTP drive shortcuts. WebLink
and FTP drive shortcut icons will appear on the desktop.

- When the drivers and shortcuts have been installed, unplug the
reader from the USB port.
- Re-plug the reader into the USB port and wait for the reader to
reboot and enter read mode (LEDs ON).
- Start WebLink. The default address for the reader is 192.168.100.1.
If multiple readers are installed, they will be incremented automatically.
- Double-click the FTP drive
shortcut and log in with username: target and password: password.
- The FTP drive is opened so you can access additional resources
and installers in the Tools and Documentation
folder.
You are now ready to use the C5KC
with WebLink.
If the reader will be used on another computer without the drivers
installed, it can be placed back into USB
Drive Mode from WebLink so the process described above can be repeated.
See Enable
USB Drive Mode for details.
