  • High speed and motion freeze applications – extremely fast light pulses in the microsecond range “freeze” rapidly moving objects visually. Motion blur is minimized and even the smallest details remain visible.

Extremely Short Rise Time of Less than 1 Microsecond

In high-speed applications, it is not only the light output that determines the image quality, but also how quickly industrial LED illumination reaches its maximum brightness. A rise time of less than 1 µs ensures that the light reaches its full intensity almost without delay, allowing the start of exposure to be precisely defined.

Continuous Light for the Eye, High-Speed for the Camera

With a strobe frequency of up to 1 kHz, the LED industrial illumination operates well above the perception threshold of the human eye. As a result, the light appears flicker-free and like a constant light, while technically highly precise light pulses are generated.

  • Constant light pulses for high-speed recordings – extremely short and precisely timed light pulses enable sharp images even with rapidly moving objects and reduce motion blur.
  • Higher peak light output with controlled heat development – the flash mode OverDrive enables particularly intense light pulses while simultaneously increasing system stability.
  • Comfortable working conditions – due to the high frequency, the light appears flicker-free and pleasant to the operator’s eye.

Angle Changers: Flexible Light Distribution for Optimal Illumination

Angle changers are special diffusers that can be mounted directly on LBF high power bar lights. By enlarging the beam angle, the light is additionally scattered and ensures particularly even illumination across the entire visual field.

  • Increased homogeneity: Light scatter reduces differences in brightness and ensures even illumination even in larger visual fields.
  • Tool-free assembly: Angle changers can be mounted quickly and easily directly on industrial LED illumination.
  • Polarized variants: All angle changers are also available in a polarized version and, in combination with polarization filters, allow reliable inspection even on reflective or shiny surfaces.


Curve Effect: Perfect Balance between Brightness and Homogeneity

The patented curve effect can be used with bar lights starting from a length of 375 mm. Several angle changers with different beam angles specifically influence the light distribution over the entire visual field. This diffuses the light more at the center than at the edges, so that differences in brightness are compensated for and particularly even illumination is achieved.

The result is a more diffuse and even light distribution across the entire visual field, which is particularly beneficial in applications such as pick and place or large-area inspection tasks.

  • Optimal balance between brightness and homogeneity: The targeted adjustment of the light distribution enables uniform illumination over the entire visual field.

The Right Light Color for Every Task

The LBF high power bar light is available in the light colors white light, red light and infrared light. Depending on the application, camera type and material properties of the test object, the different wavelengths offer specific advantages for image processing:
White light with a color temperature of 6,500 K is suitable for a wide range of industrial image processing applications. Thanks to the wide spectrum of all visible wavelengths, colors are represented realistically, allowing color differences to be reliably detected and evaluated.
Red light with a wavelength of 630 nm is often used in combination with monochrome cameras. Objects reflect light differently depending on the color: Surfaces with similar colors appear light, while contrasting colors absorb light more and appear dark. This allows high contrasts to be created in a targeted manner, for example when distinguishing between colored objects.
Infrared light with a wavelength of 850 nm is outside the visible spectrum and is invisible to the human eye. Unlike visible light, the image effect depends less on the object’s color, but more on the material properties of the surface. This makes infrared light particularly suitable for applications with plastic parts or for examining surface structures. Depending on the thickness of the material, the light can even partially shine through transparent or thin objects.

Illumination Methods with the LBF LED Bar Light

Brightfield
With brightfield illumination, the test object is illuminated directly from above. Smooth or reflective surfaces reflect light back to the camera, making it appear bright in the image. This makes colors, contrasts and surface structures easy to recognize.

Darkfield
If the bar light is positioned at a flat angle to the surface, edges and structures are strongly highlighted. Smooth surfaces hardly reflect light to the camera at all, and therefore appear significantly darker.

Flat Angle
As low angle light, a bar light is used at a very low angle to the surface. This means that edges, structures or elevations in particular reflect the light to the camera, while smooth surfaces are barely visible.

Dome Effect
Within a box, bar lights can be used to create a dome effect. Angle changers with a beam angle of ± 17° direct the light to the ceiling of the box, which ideally consists of a white, matt surface. The reflected light provides homogeneous illumination and is particularly suitable for illuminating complex surfaces.

Reliable Identification of Labels and Codes on Packages

In logistics centers, packages are transported by conveyor systems at high speeds and must be identified correctly. To do so, labels and codes must be located and read. Different packaging types, large or reflective surfaces, and changing light conditions make imaging difficult. A multi-camera vision system records the packages from different perspectives. The bar light’s high brightness allows for very short exposure times and ensures high contrast. This means that labels can be identified and read, even at high speeds.

Precise Tire Recognition via Vision System

A permanent vision system with integrated high-performance illumination automates tire identification within the servicing process. When driving slowly, all relevant tire data is recorded contactlessly in real time. By delivering an extremely bright, homogeneous illumination, the image stabilizes and the tire’s size, type, brand, age and condition can be detected reliably, regardless of ambient light and tire condition. This ensures a consistently high data quality and enables direct processing in other downstream systems.
