Object Detection for Driverless Transport Vehicles (DTS) with Long-Range Laser Distance Sensors

Driverless transport vehicles, such as forklift trucks, must find their way around large logistics centers in order to enable the safe and collision-free transport of goods. Two long-range laser distance sensors in miniature housing are installed in the lifting forks for object detection. Thanks to their small size, wintec sensors with red light fit perfectly into the fork tips and even detect black or highly reflective objects from distances of up to one meter.

Long-Range Laser Distance Sensors

Long-range laser distance sensors work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The emitted light can be switched off for these sensors, which eliminates temperature drift.
