New Smart Factory Offers Space for Innovation

The factory of the future is finally reality: wenglor opened a new smart factory for the development and production of intelligent sensors, image processing and safety products in the Romanian city of Sibiu at the beginning of June. The highly modern production and development center with 5000 square meters of floor space was officially inaugurated and placed into service within the setting of a festive opening gala In addition to the most up-to-date Industry 4.0 technologies for networked production, an innovative development center is now also available.

What things look like in the factory of the future: rapidly moving robot arms in long production lines, test laboratories flooded with light with spick-and-span industrial floors, networked machines with monitor screens and self-driving logistics shuttles. wenglor’s new production center offers all of the features of a modern smart factory. What appears as modern architecture from the outside bears the signature of a global, growth-oriented industrial enterprise on the inside.
But wenglor is not new to the Romanian city of Sibiu: already in 2001, a production facility was opened there which in the meantime has expanded to 5000 square meters, namely twice its original size. Roughly 300 qualified employees including engineers, programmers, production personnel and many others will assure best possible product quality, day after day, in the new two-story building at ergonomically optimized workstations. “We’re proud to be able to play an active role in shaping the fourth era of industrial production – not only with our products, but rather with our own production facility here in Sibiu as well”, says Herbert Oprea, managing director of the Romanian wenglor subsidiary. “We’re well prepared for the future with this facility, where we can transform visions into actual production innovations.”
