Distance Measurement on Black MDF Boards with Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

MDF boards for furniture construction can have different colors and structures. In order to measure the distance to the black edges of the differently sized boards, a laser distance sensor Time of Flight with wintec is installed on the side of the conveyor belt. This measures the distance to the MDF boards from a great distance. Based on the analog measurement data, the robot knows the exact position and size of the boards and can pick them up and move them. Neither the black edge nor ambient interference such as dust, ambient light or chips influence the measurement result.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
