Distance Measurement of Chipboards with Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight with wintec

In the wood industry, chipboards are stored and removed for processing in so-called intermediary stack storage systems. This process is performed by fully automatic vacuum grippers. A laser distance sensor Time of Flight with wintec installed on the gripper determines the distance of the gripper to the panel and, thanks to two independent switching points, enables both the slower approach and the start of the gripping process. Interference such as ambient light or dust as well as reflective or fluorescent objects have no influence on the switching behavior of the sensor.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
