Obstruction Detection for Driverless Transport Systems (DTS) with Time-of-Flight Laser Distance Sensors

Driverless transport systems (DTS) must be able to orientate and navigate safely in large logistics centers in order to avoid collisions. In order to detect obstacles in good time, several time-of-flight laser distance sensors with wintec are installed in the DTS, which perform distance measurements in defined directions. Distances to surrounding objects are thus reliably and precisely determined – even with black, glossy or transparent objects at large angles. The determined values are transmitted to the control system via analog output or switching signal.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
