Stack Height Detection of Roof Tiles with Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

After production, fired and coated clay tiles are temporarily stored in magazines for cooling and drying. They are then removed and fed to quality control before the packaging plant. Laser distance sensors Time of Flight are mounted above the magazines in order to reliably detect the minimum and maximum fill levels of the tile stacks for controlling entry and removal from large distances of several meters. The roof tiles are reliably detected despite their different tinting, gloss or matt surface structure.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
