Presence Check of Logs on a Gang Saw with Through-Beam Sensors

In large sawmills, logs are transported and processed fully automatically. For this purpose, e.g. after sawing has been completed, the presence of the logs must be detected. Because irregular bark, ambient dust or sawdust must not influence the detection, through-beam sensors with high light intensity are used here. Ambient light from the environment can be hidden during this process. If the sensor switches after the sawing process, this signal activates the downstream conveyor belt for removal.

Through-Beam Sensors

Through-beam sensors detect and count small parts, detect the edges of objects and monitor passages in systems. The emitter and receiver are housed in separate housings according to the through-beam mode. The sensor switches as soon as an object interrupts the laser light, red light or infrared light.
