

These sensors are equipped for use with Glass Fiber Optic Cables. They can be used with or without a Glass Fiber Optic Cable. Reflex and through beam operations are both possible. In the reflex mode the Universal Reflex Sensors evaluate the light reflected by the object. If the object passes within the selected range, the output is switched. Bright objects reflect light better than dark objects, and can thus be recognized from greater distances. In the through beam operation the color of the object has no influence on the detection range. The use of a Glass Fiber Optic Cable is especially advantageous when difficult to access locations and in high temperature zones of up to 300 °C, as well as in applications with limited space availability.
Sensor functions can be activated and scanning results can be acquired via the RS-232 interface. A comfortable parametrization and a fast diagnosis is possible via the IO-Link interface and the original data is available.
Step index fibers are used for all Glass Fiber Optic Cables. They are highly resistant to chemicals and excessive temperatures. Glass Fiber Optic Cable can be used in reflex mode, as well as in through beam mode operation.
Glass Fiber Optic Cables curtains work by the single barrier principle. If these Glass Fiber optic cable curtains are used in combination with an Analog Universal Reflex Sensor, the length of the slot corresponds to the analog range. If an Universal Reflex Sensor with switching output is utilized, the switching point can be adjusted so that the output is switched when the light slot is obstructed to a defined extent.
Adjustments are performed with a potentiometer. With Teach-In versions, adjustments are made with the appropriate keys, externally or via the RS-232 interface respectively via the IO-Link interface.
